Position Outputs

As a Train Driver, you will be responsible for:

  • Test driving 23 E-class electric locomotives.
  • Shunting operations for locos, including:
    • 23E class, 18E class, 7E class, 19E class, and diesel locos.
    • Wagons and coaches.
  • Operating various machinery:
    • Travesor, Hunslet, Whiting, and Zephyr.
  • Switching train points.
  • Operating Dezy Hauler.
  • Coupling of loads, safety links, and air/vacuum brakes.

Qualifications and Experience

Candidates should meet the following requirements to be eligible for the Train Driver position:

  • Grade 12 (NQF 4) and be a qualified Train Driver.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Train Driver.
  • Knowledge of locomotives will be an added advantage.
