As a professional Millwright, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all support tasks are completed successfully and quickly. The ideal candidate will be appointed as a Millwright, responsible for a range of tasks, including plumbing, grounds maintenance, vehicle checks, fault finding, and routine inspections. The job requires the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical and mechanical tasks, as well as the investigation of electrical problems using testing equipment. The successful candidate will also need to repair or replace equipment, have an excellent understanding of HVAC systems, and be familiar with a range of test instruments.
Responsibilities:
• Perform plumbing, grounds maintenance, vehicle checks, and electrical and mechanical tasks
• Install, maintain, and repair electrical and mechanical tasks
• Investigate electrical problems using testing equipment
• Repair or replace equipment as needed
• Develop an excellent understanding of HVAC systems
• Be familiar with a range of test instruments
• Evaluate employee performance and offer coaching and support
• Coordinate and complete tasks according to timeframes
• Keep track of inventories and budgetary limits when planning the purchase of additional materials, supplies, or parts
• Coordinate and oversee the activities of the maintenance crew, ensuring compliance with policies and laws
• Maintain machinery that can impact output
• Ensure that all biosecurity policies and guidelines are in place and followed
• Review job cards, inspections, and follow-up each week
• Observe health and safety regulations
• Be available on weekends and on-call as necessary
• Address HR/IR issues as necessary (e.g., planning leave, time sheets, disciplinary measures, etc.)
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:
• Hold a Red Seal Certificate as a qualified Millwright
• Have 2-3 years of experience as a Millwright, preferably in a poultry environment
• Understand management principles and job card systems
• Demonstrate analytical thinking and strong problem-solving skills
• Show excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
• Contribute as a team player, showcasing leadership skills
• Develop proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
