The Traffic Safety Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining a safe and efficient transportation infrastructure in our dynamic and fast-paced urban environment. As a vital member of our engineering team, you will play a key role in ensuring that our roads, highways, and public spaces are safe and accessible for all users. Key Responsibilities:
As a Traffic Safety Engineer, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Conducting traffic safety studies and analyses to identify potential hazards and risks.
- Developing and implementing traffic safety plans, policies, and guidelines in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Designing and installing traffic safety infrastructure, such as signs, markings, and lighting.
- Conducting field inspections and monitoring to ensure compliance with traffic safety standards.
- Collaborating with other departments, such as transportation planning and operations, to develop and implement comprehensive traffic safety solutions.
- Providing technical support and advice to other teams and departments on traffic safety matters.
- Staying up-to-date with the latest developments in traffic safety research and best practices.
Minimum Requirements:
To be successful in this role, you will need to meet the following minimum requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in traffic safety engineering or a related field.
- Registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng).
- Strong understanding of traffic safety principles, regulations, and standards.
- Proficiency in MS Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
