Gov Worker
The Sports Nutritionist will work closely with athletes and coaching staff to educate, monitor, and administer optimal sports nutrition plans to enhance athletic performance at local, national, and international competitions. This senior role is responsible for monitoring athlete progress, developing educational materials, and providing critical nutrition guidance to support coaching and athlete goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with coaching staff, athletes, and other specialists to identify nutritional needs related to competition, training schedules, and individual performance expectations.
- Develop, evaluate, and implement evidence-informed nutrition plans, assessing the impact on athlete outcomes and adjusting strategies as necessary.
- Conduct comprehensive dietary assessments, analyses, and recommendations for each athlete to ensure optimal levels of macronutrient and micronutrient balance, along with hydration.
- Provide sports nutrition education on optimal training, competition feeding strategies, and injury-illness recovery plans, incorporating personalized macronutritional plans for optimal athletic return to competition.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records regarding athlete progress, utilizing the most current nutrition practices, theories, and strategies.
Minimum Requirements:
The successful candidate will possess the following:
- Registration with the Society for Sports Science and Physiotherapy (SSPF) and/or the Human Sciences Research Council (HRSRC), as required.
- A Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Sports Nutrition Science, Nutrition, or affiliated fields (emphasizing human physiology, energy metabolism, and nutrition-related biochemical pathways).
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in high-level competition environments or within the sports scientific support network.
- Excellent written and verbal comprehension in the English language for professional settings.
Additionally, candidates should submit a 1-page professional write-up with their application letter addressing: “What kind of role I see fitting best and how I can provide significant support to athletes in achieving success at local, national, and international competitions.”

Working Environment and Conditions:
This full-time position involves a regular workweek from Monday to Friday, 12 PM to 7 PM, with minimal flexibility. The role may require travel, early evenings, weekends, festivals, and covering tournaments and camps, with some possibility to work online.
