The Senior Financial Controller will lead and manage the finance function, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. You will work closely with the CEO, Management, and other stakeholders to inform financial decisions with solid management principles. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will provide strategic financial guidance to support business growth, manage risk, and drive operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in financial management coupled with outstanding leadership and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the finance function, ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain effective financial systems, processes, and procedures to guarantee accuracy and efficiency in financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with functional leaders to create and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial plans that align with organizational goals.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, reports, and other financial data for stakeholders.
  • Identify, analyze, and report on key financial trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain and manage internal controls to ensure compliance with financial regulations and policies.

Minimum Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field, with a master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) certification preferred.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in a senior finance leadership role, including at least 3 years in a similar role within the not-for-profit sector.
  • Extensive knowledge of financial management, budgeting, and accounting principles, including South African tax laws and financial reporting regulations.
  • Proven experience leading and managing cross-functional teams, focusing on collaboration and empowerment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information to non-technical stakeholders.
