Schools Appeals Administrator

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who is able to work with minimum supervision to administer school admission appeals.  

School admission appeals are heard by Independent Appeal Panels throughout the year, with the busiest period running between May to July. 

The post holder will make all the necessary administrative arrangements for appeal hearings, in accordance with the School Admission Appeals Code 2022, and the School Admissions Code 2021, this includes:-

•    providing impartial advice to all parties on the appeals process and admissions law 
•    sending all the relevant papers required for the hearing to all parties
•    giving advice to the independent panel to enable it to carry out its judicial function
•    keeping an accurate record of the proceedings
•    sending written notification of the panel’s decision

You will ideally have previous experience in the clerking of school admission appeals or similar hearings, or a background in committee work.

With excellent organisational, ICT and communications skills, you will be able to work meticulously under pressure, meet tight deadlines, manage competing priorities, provide sound procedural advice and be a team player with a flexible approach.

Hours

37 hours per week

The council operates hybrid working. This involves working from an agreed workplace location in the borough for at least two days a week.
