Key Responsibilities:

As a Safety Inspector, your primary duties will include:

  • Conducting routine inspections of facilities, equipment, and processes to identify hazards and risks.
  • Reporting unsafe conditions, equipment deficiencies, and potential hazards to management.
  • Developing and implementing corrective action plans to eliminate or mitigate identified risks.
  • Conducting compliance inspections to ensure adherence to health and safety regulations and company policies.
  • Investigating accidents and incidents, determining root causes, and implementing corrective measures to prevent future occurrences.

Minimum Requirements:

To be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • A degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field.
  • Valid registration with the South African Board of Occupational Health and Safety (SOHESA) or an equivalent body.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in occupational health and safety, preferably in the manufacturing or construction industry.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety legislation, regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Working Environment and Conditions:

The Safety Inspector will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, reporting directly to the Safety Manager. The role involves frequent travel to various sites, including remote industrial areas. Candidates must be willing to work varying shifts, including weekends and overtime as required. The job includes regular exposure to industrial equipment and machinery, requiring the ability to work in noisy and demanding environments.

  • Maintaining accurate records and reports of inspections, incidents, and corrective actions.
  • Participating in incident investigations and conducting root cause analyses.
  • Providing guidance and training to employees on health and safety procedures and protocols.
