The Revenues service is responsible for the collection of £951 million of business rates and council tax. We are looking for dynamic and enthusiastic Revenues Officers with experience of both the council tax and business rates arenas. Ideally, although not essential with the experience of undertaking performance and quality assurance checks and producing management reports.
Applicants will need to demonstrate experience and understanding of the regulations and processes related to council tax and business rates including liability, discounts, exemptions and valuation matters.
You will be required to work both independently and as part of a team taking ownership of actions to ensure the prompt, accurate and efficient billing, collection and enforcement of council tax and business rates, in accordance with legislation, City Council policies and procedures, and to meet required targets. This includes meeting citizens and ratepayers face to face, updating records, negotiation, dealing with complex cases, telephone calls and processes, offering advice and guidance to citizens and colleagues when required.
