The Pension Fund Accountant will manage the day-to-day accounting and administrative aspects of the pension fund. This includes ensuring the financial integrity and accuracy of all transactions, reconciling accounts, and maintaining internal controls. You will prepare and submit reports while providing technical accounting assistance to the pension fund trustees and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and reviewing financial statements and reports, including annual accounts, quarterly reports, and cash flow statements.
  • Reconciling accounts and investigating discrepancies.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of pension fund transactions, including contributions, investments, and distributions.
  • Providing technical accounting guidance and support to pension fund trustees and other stakeholders.
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and standards, including the Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act (FAIS) and the Pension Funds Act.

Minimum Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar accounting role.
  • Professional certification as a Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Accountant (SA).
  • Familiarity with pension fund administration and accounting principles, including the Pension Funds Act and FAIS.
