Key Responsibilities:
As a Pathologist, your key responsibilities will include:
- Conducting autopsies and tissue examinations to determine the cause of death and diagnose disease.
- Interpreting and reporting laboratory results to medical staff and families.
- Developing and implementing new procedures and protocols for disease diagnosis and management.
- Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement treatment plans.
- Participating in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.
- Staying current with the latest research and developments in the field of pathology.
You will be expected to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, often under pressure, while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Minimum Requirements:
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following minimum requirements:
- A degree in medicine (MBChB) or a relevant equivalent qualification.
- A master’s degree in pathology or a related field (advantageous).
- Valid registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
- At least 3 years of experience in pathology, with a strong background in forensic pathology.
- A valid driver’s license (advantageous).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
