As a leading mining company in South Africa, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mineral Surveyor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting geological surveys, collecting and analyzing data, and providing expert advice on mineral exploration and extraction. Key Responsibilities:
As a Mineral Surveyor, you will be responsible for the following key tasks:
- Conducting geological surveys to identify potential mineral deposits.
- Collecting and analyzing geological data, including samples, maps, and photographs.
- Interpreting data to identify trends and patterns, and making recommendations for further exploration.
- Developing and implementing exploration programs, including budgeting and resource allocation.
- Collaborating with other departments, such as geology, engineering, and environmental services, to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the project.
- Providing expert advice on mineral exploration and extraction, including feasibility studies and economic evaluations.
Minimum Requirements:
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following minimum requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geophysics, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in mineral exploration and/or mining operations.
- Strong knowledge of geological principles, including geology, petrology, and structural geology.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Key Skills and Attributes:

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Experience with geological software, such as ArcGIS or MapInfo.
- Knowledge of mining regulations and environmental standards.
- Ability to communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
Working Environment and Conditions:
As a Mineral Surveyor, you will be required to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, with frequent travel to project sites. You will be expected to work at heights, in remote areas, and in challenging weather conditions. You will also be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to company health and safety policies.
Duties:
In addition to the key responsibilities listed above, the successful candidate will be expected to:
- Conduct site visits to collect data and samples.
- Analyze and interpret data, and prepare reports and presentations.
- Provide expert advice and recommendations to management and other stakeholders.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the project.
- Develop and maintain databases and spreadsheets to track project data.
