Gov Worker
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Geochemist to join our team in South Africa. As a Geochemist, you will be responsible for conducting geological and geochemical research to better understand the Earth’s crust and its natural resources. You will work closely with our team of scientists and engineers to develop and implement methods for extracting valuable minerals and metals from the Earth’s crust. Key Responsibilities
As a Geochemist, your key responsibilities will include:
- Conducting geological and geochemical research to better understand the Earth’s crust and its natural resources.
- Developing and implementing methods for extracting valuable minerals and metals from the Earth’s crust.
- Collaborating with our team of scientists and engineers to develop and implement new technologies and techniques for extracting and processing natural resources.
- Analyzing and interpreting data to identify trends and patterns in geological and geochemical processes.
- Presenting research findings and recommendations to stakeholders, including government agencies, mining companies, and other relevant organizations.
- Staying up-to-date with the latest developments and advancements in the field of geochemistry and geology.
Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this position, you must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geochemistry, Geology, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in a related field, preferably in a research or academic setting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and analyze complex data.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively present research findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong sense of professionalism and attention to detail.
- Fluency in English, with the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
Key Skills and Attributes
In addition to the minimum requirements, the following skills and attributes are highly desirable:
- Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Geochemistry, Geology, or a related field.
- Experience with geochemical analysis and laboratory techniques, including X-ray fluorescence (XRF) and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS).
- Knowledge of geological and geochemical processes, including plate tectonics, mineralogy, and petrology.
- Experience with data analysis software, such as ArcGIS and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong programming skills, with experience in languages such as Python and R.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Working Environment and Conditions
As a Geochemist, you will work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, with a strong focus on teamwork and collaboration. You will be based in our offices in South Africa, with regular travel to field sites and laboratory facilities. You will work closely with our team of scientists and engineers and will be expected to maintain a high level of professionalism and attention to detail at all times.
