We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Securities Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. As a key player in our financial department, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate recording and reporting of all financial transactions related to our company’s securities. Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key responsibilities:

  • Preparing and reviewing financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely recording of all financial transactions related to securities, including purchases, sales, and dividend payments.
  • Identifying and correcting errors and discrepancies in financial data, and implementing process improvements to prevent future errors.
  • Maintaining accurate and detailed records of all financial transactions and activities.
  • Assisting in the preparation of audit schedules and other materials for external auditors.
  • Providing support and training to other finance team members as needed.

Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this exciting opportunity, the candidate must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 3-5 years of experience in securities accounting or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of South African securities regulations and accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in Excel and other accounting software packages.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Certification as a Chartered Accountant (SA) or equivalent.

Working Environment and Conditions

The Securities Accountant will work in our Head Office, located in a modern and comfortable building. The ideal candidate should be willing to work flexible hours, including some overtime when required. The role will also involve regular communication and interaction with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors, regulators, and external consultants.

Duties

The Securities Accountant will be responsible for performing the following duties:

  • Recording and reconciling financial transactions.
  • Preparation of financial reports and statements.
  • Investigating and resolving errors or discrepancies.
  • Performing other accounting-related duties as required.
  • Collaborating with other departments, including Finance, Auditing, and Compliance.
