Summary
This position is located in the Office of Policy, Executive Office for Immigration Review, U. S. Department of Justice. Incumbent serves as Attorney Advisor provides advise on legal matters with respect to international, federal, sate, and local laws, as well as Department of Justice policies, regulations and directives relating to development and implementation of EOIR practices, policies, and procedures.

Duties
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Provides advice to the Assistant Director and the Office of Policy division chiefs on all aspects of the law as it relates to Office operations.
- Makes recommendations regarding policy and processes as relevant to the Office’s mission relating to regulation and policy, legal and non-legal training, legal access programs, and agency communications.
- Issues guidance regarding the use of Office personnel and other resources, including organizational and fiscal law issues involved in training, travel, and personnel related matters of Office staff.
- Advises management on the legally sound resolution of complex systemic issues to the Assistant Director, Division chiefs, and other staff.

Qualifications
- Education: Applicants must possess an LL.B. or a J.D. degree. (Provide the month and year in which you obtained your degree and the name of the College or University from which it was conferred/awarded.)
AND
- Licensure: Applicants must be an active member of the bar, duly licensed and authorized to practice law as an attorney under the laws of any state, territory of the U.S., or the District of Columbia. (Provide the month and year in which you obtained your first license and the State from which it was issued.)
AND
Required Experience:
For GS-13: Applicants must have two (2) full years (24 months) of post J.D. or LL.B professional legal experience.
Qualifying professional legal experience includes: Serving as legal counsel or advisor to a supervisor and junior or senior executive; providing legal and policy guidance on discrete issues; collaborating with in-house counsel on projects of varying subject matter; handling special projects that have a broad impact; reviewing Federal rulemaking and providing analysis of them; judicial clerkship; or experience as a staffer to a Member of Congress. Preferred Experience:
The ideal candidate will have experience with the following:
- Evaluating programs following pending or completed policy shifts.
- Evaluating legislation, case law, regulations, and policies to advise on operations.
- Collaborating across organizational functions to ensure proper subject matter expertise is captured.
- Providing advice and counsel to supervisors and managers.
