Purpose of the job
Database Administration in enterprise systems.
Key Responsibilities of the job
Formulation and implementation of strategies, policies and procedures on database’s availability, security and recoverability.
Identification and resolution of database issues to ensure services are available as required for business operations.
Research, development and application of emerging technologies in database administration;
Documentation of database configurations.
Ensure conformity to ISO (9001/2015 and 27001/2013) and data security requirements
Management of Performance, Audit and Integrity programmes
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, or any other IT related field from a recognized university.
Post Graduate degree in IT related field is an added advantage.
Certification in any of the following; Database Administration (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, etc.), System Administration (Red Hat Linux/windows)
IT Governance e.g. COBIT 5 or ITIL, Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence, Project Management certification is an added advantage
Membership in a recognized IT related professional body.
The post holder to have at least Four (4) years’ experience in Database Administration in a large or busy organization with at least one (1) year in a supervisory role.
Working Knowledge of relational databases (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server, etc.) and common operating systems platforms i.e. Linux or Windows
Resilience, Focus, result oriented and a team player
Strong analytical, diagnostic, decision making and problem solving skills
Attention to details and ability to work under minimum supervision.
Proactivity and strong interpersonal skills
