Johannesburg Water is seeking a skilled Artisan Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair minor plant and Yellow Machines, ensuring their safe working condition and availability for Johannesburg Water user departments. This role involves working on stand-by and overtime as needed.

Purpose of the Role
The primary purpose of this role is to maintain and repair minor plant and Yellow Machines, ensuring their availability in safe working condition for Johannesburg Water user departments. This includes working on stand-by and overtime as required.
Key Responsibilities
- Submit job cards daily and ensure check sheets and overtime sheets are filled out correctly.
- Complete Vehicle Inspection sheets and Logbooks daily and submit them weekly to the Foreman or Ops Manager.
- Submit petrol slips monthly according to Johannesburg Water Vehicle Policy.
- Liaise with suppliers and user departments within Johannesburg Water.
- Enforce safety standards according to OHASA, SANS, and Johannesburg Water Safety procedures.
- Supervise subordinates to achieve departmental goals.
- Maintain, repair, and service minor plants such as chainsaws, lawnmowers, brush cutters, compactors, concrete mixers, and more.
- Service and repair stationary diesel engines at sewer and water pump stations.
- Maintain, repair, and service mobile plants, including water tanks, trailers, jetting machines, and more.
- Ensure the roadworthiness of equipment under your control.
- Provide guidance to other departments on the safe operation of machinery.
- Assist in planned and emergency maintenance work on minor plant and machinery.
- Perform basic auto-electrical repairs and maintenance.
- Inspect tools and equipment monthly to ensure compliance with OHASA.
- Carry out stand-by duties and respond to callouts promptly.
Qualifications
To be eligible for this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Educational Requirements:
- Grade 10 or N1 + Motor or Diesel Trade/Mechanical Trade test certificate (NQF 4), or appropriate Learnership NQF 4.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in working with compressors, jackhammers, pumps, generators, and TLBs.
- Licensing:
- Valid C1 Driver‘s License + PrDP.
