Job Description

The General Worker will be responsible for ensuring clean, hygienic, and safe environments within the designated zones, regularly performing tasks such as weed removal, litter picking, and street sweeping. You will also be required to remove stickers and pamphlets from street furniture, poles, and road signs. This role extends to the cleaning of informal settlements and participating in clean-up campaigns in association with the City Departments and Entities.

Requirements

Education Grade 8 / Abet level 1 qualification
Experience 6 – 12 months relevant experience
Physical & Mental Fitness Must be physically and mentally fit
Criminal record Should have a clean criminal record

Documents Required

Key Competencies

The ideal candidate should be a team player, capable of following instructions, and has the ability to communicate in local languages. Reading and writing proficiency is a prerequisite. You should also be able to handle position tools of trade effectively, including a broom, litter picker, spade, rake, scrapper, etc. Where specialized tools are necessary, the City of Johannesburg will provide the requisite training.
