Job Overview:

SAMSA is seeking two skilled and experienced Admin Clerks to join its Certification Unit. The successful candidates will be responsible for processing and issuing certificates of competence and qualifications in line with relevant conventions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Issuance of Certifications: Process and issue certificates of competence and qualifications according to relevant conventions.
  • Application Management: Receive applications for Certificates of Competence from ports and agencies and manage related documentation.
  • Liaison: Communicate with ports and agencies to address any documentation shortcomings.
  • Accreditation Verification: Confirm that examiners and agencies are accredited by SAMSA and that their accreditation remains valid.
  • Data Processing: Enter information into databases, manage certificate photographs, and finalize certificates.
  • Verification Requests: Handle requests for verification/authentication of certificates from other Maritime Administrators and shipping companies.
  • Administrative Support: Provide clerical support to the Certification Unit, including preparing month-end reports, updating electronic databases, and filing documentation.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • Educational Requirements:
    • Matric (Grade 12)
    • NQF Level 5: National Certificate
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3 years of administrative experience.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook).
