Position Summary
We seek a motivated Research Technician to join our Genomics Analytical Services team. This role involves implementing on-farm research, analyzing animal performance data, and supporting community-based breeding programs. The position requires collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams and stakeholders to advance livestock genetic improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply statistical models to evaluate on-farm and on-station animal performance data
- Monitor and analyze data from community-based breeding programs
- Contribute to the development and publication of scientific manuscripts in high-impact journals
- Design and conduct on-farm experiments to support breeding program objectives
- Facilitate stakeholder workshops and communicate research findings to diverse audiences
- Supervise field data collection and ensure adherence to research protocols
- Support capacity-building initiatives for improved data collection and breeding practices
Requirements
- BSc/National Diploma in Animal Science, Animal Production, or related field
- 2+ years’ experience in livestock research or animal production systems
- Knowledge of animal production, breeding, and genetics is advantageous
- Proficiency in statistical analysis and experimental design
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and present technical data
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required
